UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1, UCD School of Architecture, Planning and Environmental Policy - Spatial Dynamics Lab, Temporary 36 month post

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and talented individuals for a 36-month post–doctorate research position which will contribute to the citizen science and low cost sensing activities in the H2020 SCORE. The position is available from 1 July 2021 in the area of citizen science, low cost sensor development and data analysis.

SCORE outlines a comprehensive strategy, developed via a network of 10 coastal city living labs (CCLL), to rapidly, equitably and sustainably enhance coastal city climate resilience though an Ecosystem-Based Approach (EBA) supported by sophisticated digital technologies. SCORE will reduce the impacts of sea level rise and extreme events due to climate change on European coastal cities by co-design, and co-development with citizens and stakeholders, and by deploying, testing, and demonstrating innovative EBAs, smart technologies and hybrid Nature Based Solutions. SCORE will provide scientific evidence for EBA application and best practice for design, replication and scalability in this context. Furthermore, SCORE promotes technology and innovation to increase climate resilience and in the process, creates European leadership in coastal city climate change adaptation in line with the Paris Agreement. The aim is to establish a network of cities learning from one another. Citizens and stakeholders that participate in the CCLLs will have access to technology to address climate change issues relevant to their region through participatory engagement. Based on a prototype coastal city early warning system for extreme events, the technology will be developed, implemented and validated through the integration of smart sensing technologies and citizen science.
The successful candidate will be part of a dynamic team within the Spatial Dynamics Lab
