Contract/Fixed Term: : The position is funded by MRC until 27th Sep 2025 in the first instance.
The research fellow will join the groups headed by Maria Balda and Karl Matter at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.
The duties and responsibilities are to study cell-cell adhesion-associated signalling mechanisms during retinal degeneration in vivo and in vitro. S(he) will be working with mouse and cell culture models of retina to identify the molecular mechanisms of retinal degeneration induced by manipulation of cell-cell adhesion proteins.
This position requires a PhD in Cell/Molecular/Developmental Biology, Biochemistry, or another related discipline.
The person appointed will have a UK personal Home Office animal licence, and experience in vivo eye function assessment techniques.
The project also requires skills on tissue culture and molecular cell biology analysis (protein and mRNA expression, quantitative biochemical and cell-based assays, fluorescence microscopy).
