UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1

Applications are invited for a temporary post of a UCD Post-doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 within School of Chemical & Bioprocess Engineering.

This postdoctoral position will play an important role in a new European Research Council (ERC) funded project, this project is based in the UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering. The post-doc will join a dynamic multi-disciplinary research team and is expected to have expertise in synthetic chemistry, molecular synthesis and reaction outcome characterisation to develop the synthesis of natural deep eutectic solvents.

The successful candidate will develop, synthesise, optimise and evaluate natural deep eutectic solvents as biofilm disruptive agents by coupling solution structure with efficiency of application in collaboration with other team members. This will include evaluating novel reaction activation methods e.g. Microwave chemistry to carry out targeted reactions. Implement characterisation tools to analyse in batch/continuous mode the targeted reaction products. Additionally, perform research on physiochemical properties of such systems evaluating solvent stability and effect on surfaces.
