Assistant/Associate Professor in Communication Research and Reporting



    University of Doha for Science and Technology (UDST) was officially established by the Emiri Decision No13 of 2022, and it is the first national university specializing in academic applied, technical, and professional education in the State of Qatar.     The College of General Education provides a range of core courses common to all students of the University, in subject areas that support the academic structure of the undergraduate programs. The General Education Curriculum is designed around courses in mathematics, natural sciences, research methods, English communication, social sciences, humanities and the arts, aimed at developing students’ understanding of fundamental scientific concepts and their applications.

    The College of General Education invites applications for the position of Assistant or Associate Professor of Communication, with a focus on Research and Reporting. Candidates must be qualified to teach in both English and Arabic.

    Reporting to the Department Head of English Communication and Humanities, the Assistant/Associate Professor should be an experienced educator with creative and innovative teaching skills, capable of effectively planning, developing, and delivering courses. We seek exceptional individuals to teach upper-level Research and Reporting in English and Arabic, as part of UDST’s General Education Curriculum. The role involves developing students' skills in communicating STEM research, technical writing, and professional presentations. The successful candidate will also contribute to curriculum development, student mentorship, and departmental initiatives. Candidates must have demonstrated a record of academic publications and/or applied research showcasing expertise in this field. They should also actively engage in scholarly activities that complement their teaching and contribute to the academic community.

    Education and Experience Requirements
    Faculty members will be placed in the appropriate rank based on their education and experience. The broad criteria are noted below.

    Qualifications

    Ph.D. in Linguistics, Technical or Professional Writing, or a related field.

    Experience Requirements

    A minimum of 3 (three) years of full-time teaching experience in higher education, with proficiency in teaching in both English and Arabic.

    Scholarship and Research Requirements

    -Contribution to the advancement of knowledge through applied research, scholarship, publications, knowledge transfer or professional practice which would be expected to be international in its scope.
    -Demonstrate potential for leadership in research and scholarly activities and recognition among peers.
    -Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated contribution to curriculum development and to teaching and learning.

    Other Desired Skills

    -Skill in course development, implementation, and evaluation, with experience in diverse teaching methods such as laboratory, simulation, and practicum-based learning.
    -Ability to apply experiential and applied learning techniques, integrating educational technology to develop interactive, technology-enhanced learning environments.
    -Proficiency in designing, delivering, and assessing authentic learning experiences using contemporary tools, with strong academic and information literacy.
    -Commitment to continuous professional development, fostering self-improvement and lifelong learning within the teaching profession.
    -Strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Arabic, with the ability to collaborate effectively and build relationships with students, colleagues, and community partners.
