https://www.ucd.ie/workatucd/jobs/ The NBS4AQUAMISSION project aims to safeguard aquatic biodiversity in urban and rural waters that are exposed to varying levels of pharmaceutical pollution. Pharmaceutical products are used in human health and animal health; however, their increased concentrations in aquatic environments, such as freshwater systems, have raised significant concerns regarding their ecological impacts. Aquatic ecosystems, being vulnerable to such pollutants, experience structural and functional damage, with biodiversity loss being one of the critical consequences. Traditional wastewater treatment plants are not fully capable of eliminating these pollutants, leading to their presence in aquatic environments.
